As a Structural Engineer, your role is to deliver meticulously crafted structural drawings and models, adhering to set timescales, regulations, and production standards. Collaborating seamlessly with our diverse teams and clients, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity of GRP mouldings and glazing.
The Role:
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide insights on the required structural envelope during the concept stage of design.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Collaborate with class and flag authorities on structural rules and compliance issues.
  • Risk Assessment: Advise designers and naval architects on structural viability and risks.
  • Vessel Evaluation: Survey and evaluate existing vessel structures for refit work.
  • Material Expertise: Liaise with yard/project manager/designers on construction materials and processes.
  • Conceptual Innovation: Develop 3D concept structural schemes for proposed designs.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with external clients to resolve spatial and assembly issues.
  • Iterative Development: Iterate 3D structural models as designs evolve, assessing structural performance against class requirements, weight, and cost considerations.
  • Detailed Documentation: Produce detailed construction drawings, BOM, assembly process flip book, and welding schedules for the yard.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Generate approval drawings, reports, and documentation for class and regulatory bodies.
  • Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical support to the yard and clients.
  • Communication Excellence: Use grammatically correct correspondence internally and externally.
  • Team Collaboration: Understand other departments within Olesinski and collaborate effectively.
  • Project Management: Manage your own timescales and deliverables, contributing input to project evaluations.
  • Client Interaction: Present your ideas to the client, incorporating feedback and recommendations.
  • Administrative Duties: Complete all administration duties related to the position, including answering the office telephone.
  • Professional Development: Keep up to date with industry news, trends, and relevant regulations.
  • Networking: Form business relationships with clients, suppliers, distributors, and attend conferences or seminars.
  • Site Visits: Arrange regular visits to see in-build or completed existing models.
