Buyer – Marine Industry | Southampton, UK

Join a world-leading designer and manufacturer of specialised marine systems serving the commercial, defence, and luxury yacht sectors. We’re looking for a proactive, organised, and personable Buyer to become a key part of our Southampton-based team. This is more than just a procurement role – it’s about someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, and technical environment.

The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll manage supplier relationships, source and evaluate components, and ensure materials are delivered on time, at the right cost, and to the highest quality. Your negotiation skills and technical insight will help drive operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source, assess, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Build strong, long-term supplier relationships to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve best value without compromising quality.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, keeping accurate records and updates.
  • Track deliveries and verify goods received to support smooth operations.
  • Assist operational teams with day-to-day purchasing and administrative tasks.
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience in procurement, ideally within technical, manufacturing, or marine environments.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office essential; Sage 200 advantageous).
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working hands-on in a busy environment.
Personal Attributes & Team Fit
  • Professional, confident, and approachable – a true team player.
  • Calm under pressure, able to prioritise effectively and think ahead.
  • High integrity, reliable, and results-driven.
  • Practical and hands-on, with a focus on accuracy and delivering outcomes.
