Role based predominately in London, near London Bridge station. Trips to Shoeburyness and supplier meetings elsewhere, when required.

Head of Trading.

Key Objective:
The objective of this role is to maximise commercial opportunities within our sailing categories by ensuring we have the right technical product, at the right price, delivered at the right time and communicated to our customers effectively.

Our mission is to get people on or in the water, and we are seeking an ambitious Sailing Buyer to help us achieve this.

Main Duties & Responsibilities Buying/Suppliers
• Take an active role in building new season strategies.
• Ensure we have the right mix of products and depth per category.
• Identify new product/brand trends appropriate for our customers.
• Buy all products for brands you are responsible for, ensuring sound justification for your decisions made.
• Manage all stages of placing an order for brands you buy, with support from the team.
• Manage all terms negotiations for brands you buy.
• Be the main point of contact for all brands you buy.
• Build strong working relationships with the brands you buy.
• Understand the brands' key marketing activations for future seasons and work with internal teams to help build ours.

Trading
• Improve the sales and stock position of all brands you buy, working closing with other members of the B&M team, actively help with pricing, re-ordering, overstocks, marketing campaigns, deliveries etc.
• Interact with other teams to improve seasonal performance and drive best practices.
• Conduct detailed ad-hoc analysis when required on specific products/product groups.
• Ensure all domains have the optimum size and depth of product ranges and price points to support and deliver International growth.
• Ensure understanding of the marketplace landscape through use of google analytics and google trends.

Essential Skills and Experience
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Strong technical product knowledge within yacht and dinghy sailing. Kayak also advantageous.
• Specific experience within a multi brand environment.
• At least 5 years' experience within the sailing industry, preferably with technical product/buying experience.
• Advanced planning and analytical skills, including computer skills.
• Good judgement and decision-making skills.
• Confidence in suggesting calculated risks.
• Strong customer awareness and understanding.
• Passionate about product, strong market and brand awareness.
• Discreet, professional and well spoken, with excellent communication skills.
• Organised, methodical and efficient.
• Time keeping & ability to meet stringent deadlines.
