Marine Resources are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter on a full time fixed term contract which could potentially go permanent, based in Portsmouth
Based in HM Naval base Portsmouth in support of Royal Navy, RFA and commercial vessels employed as an industrial mechanical fitter. Personnel must have served a recognised apprenticeship, have a deep understanding of mechanical work and be able to carry out the various techniques used in ship repair and support industry. Suitable candidates will have a good understanding of safe systems of work including mechanical work, tag-out, confined spaces, working at height and RN specific safety operations.
A sound knowledge of mechanical systems and associated equipment is essential.
A time served industrial / heavy engineering or marine industry Mechanical Fitter turner.
Flexible attitude with the ability to work closely as part of a team, and confident to be able work unassisted when required.
This is a shore based role working as part of the saltwater services team, who support the repair, maintenance and operation of the waterfront assets used for the movement and docking of vessels.
Working as part of a team, you will be carrying out routine planned maintenance, reactive repairs and testing on mechanical systems, machinery and high volume saltwater pumps.
The role requires working in Confined Spaces, and underground installations (CS training will be provided if required).
Due to the nature of this position, it is vital that you would be able to pass security clearance.
