Senior Structures Engineer
Our client is a highly respected Design consultancy in the marine industry, providing services for a range of specialised yachts, from concept through to build. Using cutting-edge technology to provide innovative design solutions completely tailored to the individuals’ requirements!
 
The role:
  • Providing a contribution to the design work and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Using their expertise to provide support to colleagues across all disciplines and where appropriate for the coordination and technical supervision of colleagues within their discipline on a project-by-project basis.
  • Managing the quality of work produced and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Supporting and developing new ideas, designs and ways of working as part of the company’s ongoing investment in R&D and continuous improvement.
Essential
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in the marine industry.
  • Personal time planning, including feedback to support in the definition of resource requirements, time budgets and deliverables deadlines.
  • Proven ability to process technical problems and effectively seek out the correct technical solution using sound engineering judgement.
  • Commercial awareness, with the ability to ensure that works are being carried out and completed to an appropriate standard and level of detail, measured against the contracted deliverables and tracked against the agreed budget.
  • The ability to produce clear and well-presented drawings and plans to a suitable quality and standard.
Desirable
  • 2D CAD (AutoCAD) to produce design information (Expert skill level).
  • 2D/3D CAD and other specialist software to produce/review design information.
  • MS Office to develop reports, spreadsheet data and presentation information.
  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory regulations and Classification and Flag rule sets.
  • Knowledge and experience of ship structural design as applied to structural arrangements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of structural analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience of luxury yacht and/or specialist vessel outfit and the requirements for equipment integration, preferably with direct shipyard experience.
