What You’ll Do:
As an External Boat Builder, you’ll be responsible for creating, fitting, and finishing various components on the exterior of our client’s yachts. Working closely with the Boat Builder Manager and the experienced team, you will ensure all work meets precise measurements and the high standards expected in the luxury marine sector. Key responsibilities include:
- Installing sailing hardware such as winches, cleats, tracks, and clutches
- GRP/fiberglass structure fitting, fairing, and finishing
- Fitting hull ports, marine windows, hatches, and deck gear
- Skin fitting, teak deck installation, and composite module finishing
- Conducting quality checks and snagging processes
- Strong boatbuilding skills with a good understanding of timber and fiberglass construction
- Experience using hand and power tools with precision
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Knowledge of safe working practices and Health & Safety regulations
- Relevant City & Guilds or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience in marine or luxury yacht construction is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and teamworking abilities
Our client offers a supportive, close-knit working environment with opportunities to develop your skills and career. Flexible working arrangements include:
- Monday – Friday, 40-hour week (with optional early starts from 06:30)
- Option for a 4-day working week
- Enhanced overtime rates for hours worked beyond 40 per week
- Additional bonus payments for extended hours (45+)
