Our client is seeking a motivated and hands-on Buyer to join their Southampton-based team. This role would suit an organised, proactive individual with strong negotiation skills and a background in technical or manufacturing environments.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality procurement of parts and materials.

Our client is seeking a motivated and hands-on Buyer to join their Southampton-based team. This role would suit an organised, proactive individual with strong negotiation skills and a background in technical or manufacturing environments.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality procurement of parts and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to achieve best value.
- Raise and manage purchase orders, maintaining accurate records and database updates.
- Track orders to ensure timely delivery and verify goods received.
- Support operational teams with purchasing activities and general administration.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiation and purchasing processes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
- Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage 200 would be an advantage.
- A self-starter who thrives in a busy, technical environment.
- Professional, confident, and collaborative communicator.
- Calm under pressure with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- High ethical standards and reliability.
- Hands-on approach with a focus on accuracy and results.
