Overall Job Purpose:
As Yard Operative you are responsible for preparing equipment for loading and unloading to move and hoist boats on the marina. You will ensure the yard is kept clean and tidy as well as being free from hazards. You will support the Company’s Health and Safety regulations and ensure that you operate machinery safely and correctly.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
• Prepare machinery for loading and unloading
• Keep the yard clean, tidy and free from hazards
• Operate machinery as a competent operator to support the operational needs of the business. Full training will be given.
• Act as Banksman when required to do so
• Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times
• Support and assist colleagues where necessary to fulfil the needs of the business
• Support the Yard Supervisor and Yard Manager as required General Company Responsibilities and Duties:
• Personal and team adherence to existing working practices, methods and procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and respond positively to new and alternative systems
• Proactive approach to Health Safety and Environment and co-operate with the relevant Health, Safety and Environment legislation, policies, and processes Desired Skills, Experience and Qualifications: * advantageous but not essential
• Passport to Safety including towing a boat
• Understand the workings on a hoist and lifting machinery
• Understand rigging
• Knowledge of how to operate a boat (ideally a powerboat level 2)
