Workshop Outboard Technician - Bicester (Marine Technician)

This is a ‘hands-on’ mechanic role working within a Marine Leisure Division that sell outboard motors and boats.  This role is workshop based at the head office in Bicester.  Main duties include working on our outboard motors and rigging our boats with engine, control panels, accessories etc.

  • Produce engines and or products as required following job cards, build standards and/or special instructions.
  • Carry out boat rigging as required following job cards, build standards and/or special instructions.
  • Carry out repairs and warranty inspections
  • Carry out outboard motor installation and application work.
  • Maintaining work areas and equipment in good clean condition.
  • Ensure safe working practices are observed at all times. Company health & safety policy must be followed at all times.
  • Support sales and technical teams.
  • Assist with product training.
  • Assist in setting up shows or exhibitions, both on or off site, as and when required.

FORMAL TRAINING
• NVQ in mechanical engineering (or equivalent qualification)
• Driving licence with towing
• Attend C.P.D Course set by the manufacturers or suppliers

EXPERIENCE 
• At least 2- 3 years practical experience in a busy workshop/production environment
• Ideally some experience of low voltage electrics including installing electrical items such as lighting, pumps etc. ideally in a marine environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 
• Ideally has knowledge of inboard and outboard marine engines
• Some experience on basic electrical systems including power management and electronics
• Computer experience with engine diagnostic equipment
• Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act
• Full UK driving licence including towing endorsements
• Team working and communication skills
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Systems
