Job description
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established inland sailing club in Cumbria for an experienced Senior Sailing Instructor to take a lead role in the delivery and development of its training programme.
This is a hands-on position combining high-quality instruction on the water with leadership and mentoring of instructors and volunteers. It would suit an RYA Dinghy Instructor who enjoys developing people, upholding strong safety standards and delivering an excellent member experience.
Reporting into the Sailing Manager and working closely with the club’s training lead, you’ll oversee the delivery, coordination and overall quality of sailing instruction across youth and adult programmes. The role includes regular weekend working and occasional evenings.
Key responsibilities
Contract: Permanent, seasonal, part-time or freelance options considered.

- Delivering RYA youth and adult courses from beginner to advanced level, with clear session planning and progression
- Acting as a senior point of contact for instructors, supporting mentoring, development and day-to-day resourcing
- Maintaining high standards of safety and ensuring compliance with RYA and club procedures
- Supporting scheduling, bookings, basic administration and promoting progression into club sailing and racing
