Job description
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Sailing Manager to lead all sailing activities as part of a Sailing Club and Sailing School, in a stunning part of the Lake District. This hands-on role combines leadership, administration, and on-water management, overseeing everything from club racing and social sailing to regattas and training programmes and all aspects of running a sailing school and RYA training centre.
You’ll work closely with the Sailing Club board and volunteers and lead and support instructors and volunteers, ensure safe and efficient operations, and help grow participation across the sailing school, all while working in a beautiful and inspiring environment. Weekend work is essential.
This is a unique opportunity to work in one of the UK’s most picturesque sailing locations, where the lake and surrounding scenery provide the perfect setting for sailors of all levels. You’ll be part of a welcoming and passionate community, helping members and visitors enjoy their time on the water while developing the Sailing School’s programmes and events. It’s a role that blends hands-on sailing, leadership, and the chance to make a real impact on the growth and success of the club.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate must hold RYA Senior Instructor and ideally hold Powerboat Instructor qualifications. You will have a proven track record in managing sailing programmes, including club racing, regattas, and training activities. Strong knowledge of water safety management, risk assessment, and emergency response is essential, along with experience leading volunteers, motivating teams, and fostering a safe and positive environment.
