Senior Engineer - Structures

A leading brand in the design and engineering of large craft seek a skilled Engineer capable of providing structural engineering design work within the company.

With an international project reach that covers craft of 50m and above, the brand have seen strong onwards growth of late, with a number of craft in build and more at final stage of design and about to commence. Having built an exceptional industry reputation and recruiting a multinational team of the highest calibre, they are now one of the go-to consultancies.

As a Senior Engineer within the team, you will taking on an active coordination and/or leadership role when required, overseeing projects and structural design. You will also be responsible for a wide range of checking functions for engineering design calculations and drawing work carried out by other engineers within the company.

Technical Experience Required:
· Clear communication skills, with experience of reporting into and leading a project team for the structural development and draughting of a design.
· Strong background in engineering design calculations with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of structural design theory.
· A sound working knowledge of ship rules and regulations - Detailed understanding of LY3/PYC, LR Ship Rules and SSC is an advantage.
· Experienced skill level in 2D CAD (AutoCAD) and basic skills in 3D CAD (Rhino) to develop and review design information.
· Experienced skill level in MS Office to develop reports, spreadsheet data and presentation information.
· Familiarity with MathCAD calculation software and Strand7 FEA software is an advantage.
· Experience of shipyard construction and detailing for production is an advantage.
· Experience of specialist vessels, including small craft and luxury yachts may also be relevant to the role.

Special Conditions:
· Full European driving licence and passport.
· On site works, both in the UK and with the potential for occasional travel and site attendance within Northern Europe. Further International Travel as required on a project by project basis.
· A flexible approach to working hours and the ability to respond to peaks of workload within a project.

As an individual you will be self-motivated and able to meet targets and project deliverables, including planning time frames, resource requirements, and budgets. It is crucial this individual has a strong commercial awareness and the ability to work to the highest standard of detail.
