Project Engineer

A new and exciting brand is looking for a Project Engineer to support in the engineering & design of existing newbuild projects!

Responsibilities
• Responsible for technical, engineering and design support to active newbuild projects, input to new product development projects and involvement in vessel aftersales support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will play a vital part in maintaining a positive relationship with colleagues and varied external stakeholders.
• Candidates will be expected to be involved with multiple builds/clients/shipyards/npd projects simultaneously.
• Work with in-house project and product development departments to create high-level design proposals and solve design and engineering challenges, prior to further development/finalisation in-house or by subcontract design/build partners.
• Ensure that technical documentation/communication is properly documented and distributed as appropriate.
• Work collaboratively as part of the wider Team, utilising the experience and creativity to enhance design solutions, whether conventional or unconventional in engineering approach.
• Produce drawings, images, 3D models and renders for sales materials

Qualifications, skills & experience
• Degree, or equivalent vocational training and experience, in naval architecture, marine engineering or a similar technical discipline.
• Essential: Fluent in the use of AutoCAD and Rhino 3D design packages
• Experience/knowledge of aluminium and composite boatbuilding practices
• Experience of the operation and maintenance of common vessel systems
• Familiar with the design of yacht and workboat structures, systems and interiors
• Fluent in use of Microsoft Office and common software packages
• Knowledge of UK/Red Ensign small commercial vessel code

Ideal Candidate:
• An experienced and self-motivated project engineer, preferably with a proven background in naval architecture, marine outfit design or mechanical design. Experience of working in shipyard environments, particularly in the construction/outfitting of Aluminium yachts and/or workboats.
