Based on the Isle of Wight this family run superb well established local firm is looking to recruit a Operations Manager. Over the last 40 years they really have established themselves as a brokerage offering a full one stop service to owners of vessels up to 50 ton. From repairs to refit to electricals/engineering they really do cover it all with an absolute love of what they do.

As our client’s newest Operations manager and right-hand person to the company director, you’ll be a pivotal member of the team. As such as this role will suit someone who is meticulous, extremely organized and works well under pressure to manage multiple projects. The customer/project journey is central to this firms excellent long-standing reputation of delivering good work on time and to agreed time scales.

This is a true operations manager and as such encompasses all elements of the project journey from pricing to customer liaison to managing the work timeframes. Really do have to be happy to be the focal point and to be involved in all aspects liaising with all department from chandlery to yard operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with customer, as required, to define scope of work, provide pricing and supporting technical information, and agree target completion date
  • Work closely with the office manager, engineering/boatyard staff, local chandlery and specialist suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the customer/project journey is to the highest standard
  • Create quotations for customers and obtain accurate pricing from chandlery and external suppliers to obtain firm prices for bought-in materials and services.
  • Provide any supplementary information required to support deviations from quoted prices, including details of prior agreements reached by the Operations Manager with the customer.
  • Liaise with customers, engineering staff, boatyard staff, chandlery and external suppliers and subcontractors to prepare a firm work schedule for each job.
  • Maintain running records of general productivity and rework requirements for review with the Managing Director when appropriate for purposes of pricing similar repeat work and preparing budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor workshop and yard practices are performed with all due regard for operator and public safety.
