Naval Architect!
An exciting opportunity to join a leading engineering studio in Southampton as a Naval Architect has arisen! Reporting directly to the Director of Naval Architecture, this role will require a competence in fundamental Naval Architecture tasks; including hull design and stability calculation, weight calculation, performance prediction, model testing, seakeeping analysis, tank plan development and arrangement drawings.
The right individual will have worked in a similar field; small craft, commercial, defense or renewable energies and therefore will have a strong commercial awareness and the ability to carry out of works to a high level of detail using strong technical judgement and to seek out technical solutions.
Key Skills & Responsibilities:
Ability to produce clear and well-presented drawings in 2D CAD (AutoCAD) and 3D (CAD) and other specialist software
Good working knowledge of Classification & Flag rules sets
Good working knowledge of Ship Systems Design
Good working knowledge of Ship Structural Design
Clear understanding of system design theory and understanding the full design life-cycle
Set & Manage project deliverables in a timely manner
Undertake detailed drawing work and engineering design calculations
Liaise with internal departments and external subcontractors and customer's representatives
Be prepared to undertake travel both in the UK and Northern Europe as the business requires

This exciting opportunity to open to Naval Architects in a similar marine environment and who have experience working on long term projects with a natural approach to work which allows for peaks in workload. Ideally this role would suit an individual with 4 -5 years experience in this sector!
