Marine Resources are seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to join our clients team who are dedicated to providing Asset Management, Facilities Management, Energy Solutions and Alongside Services at His Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNBP), the beating heart of the Royal Navy.

What’s the role all about:

As an important role within the Engineering, Assurance and Compliance Team, you will provide technical governance, legislative, regulatory and safe to operate assurance for mechanical/electrical systems and equipment at HMNBP. 
You will be an experienced engineer, educated to degree/HND/HNC level and having good knowledge and experience in an engineering role. You will have a portfolio of capability demonstrating your ability to deliver high quality engineering solutions.

Main accountabilities:
  • Ownership of involved technical problems
  • Technical acceptance of mechanical/electrical elements of project design and ensuring compliance with design intent
  • Produce and manage safety management systems for your responsible asset groups
  • Communicate proactively with other team members to identify problems, create solutions and unblock technical issues
  • To maintain and improve the teams technical competence, identifying individual development needs to deliver the required engineering capability within the business
  • Manage and present asset condition status to asset owner
  • To provide technical support with updating Asset Management Plans
  • To provide support to the strategic plans for infrastructure and business improvement
Your key experience:
  • You will have a degree/HND/HNC with 10+ years’ experience within an electrical, mechanical or C&I engineering discipline.
  • To be a chartered/incorporated engineer, or working towards membership
  • A good technical understanding of complex electromechanical equipment and systems
  • In assuring compliance to all relevant statutory and regulatory legislation within a maritime and built infrastructure environment
  • In safely satisfying operational demands across all areas of PNB
Your key competencies:

Possess a good knowledge of engineering, with the credibility to support/guide colleagues to resolve technical issues
  • Team Player – Able to understand the bigger picture and able to interface and work with cross functional teams to achieve asset management goals
  • Self-motivated – Able to take initiative, make recommendations and set direction on Engineering Issues
  • Analytical – An ability to collate and sort technical data for its relevance and apply appropriate analysis to turn this into meaningful data for the wider team
  • Pragmatic – Able to balance operational needs and aspirations with available budgets, timescales and risks
  • Values – lives and endorses the company values
You will ideally have the following qualifications, memberships:
  • An HNC, HND or Degree in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline
  • Ideally be a member of, working towards or have aspirations of professional recognition (IEng or CEng.
  • Health and Safety training i.e. IOSH Managing Safely, CITB SMSTS or CSCS or equivalent
  • Hold, have held or eligible to apply for security clearance
