Job Description:

We require a multi-skilled, versatile marine electrical designer for our new 24m Omega Class USVs

Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing the electrical, electronic and navigation systems to meet the requirements of the classification society.

Main Responsibilities:
As an marine electrical Designer, you will be responsible for:
• Developing electrical distribution concepts
• Generating and issuing production-ready drawings, including schematics, arrangements, conduit routing, component layout, panel location and detailed manufacturing/engineering drawings for the entire vessel's electrical systems
• Design evaluation, including conducting vessels' electrical load analysis and short circuit calculations
• Producing technical submissions for classification societies
• Delivering timely and accurate electrical design documentation and drawings to support procurement and production of new builds
• Electrical equipment selection and production of fully-specified Bills of Materials for procurement
• Liaising with suppliers as required
• Ensuring the appropriate rules and high standards are applied to the electrical systems on board new build projects

Skills & attributes:
• 5+ years' experience in designing marine electrical systems in accordance with class requirements
• Knowledge of AC/DC systems is essential
• Relevant electrical qualification essential
• Knowledge of producing designs to various Class requirements.
• Competent in fundamental electrical engineering design such as: specifying and arranging electrical panels; machine control circuits; selection of instruments and special equipment and preparation of bill of materials
• Strong organisational skills and proven aptitude for practically applying technical knowledge
• Experience working with Uncrewed or Autonomous Surface Vessels would be advantageous
• Ability to integrate into a working environment that is fast paced and varied (may involve site visits, office based work and remote team working)
• Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD or other CAD applications
• Self-motivated and responsible for personal development
