Specialising in composite materials, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Design Engineer in the marine industry to take the next step up and lead a small team within the design team.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Maintain an understanding of your teams output requirements (planned & unplanned)
  • Manage your own workload & monitor own time keeping through communications with Teams Leader and Senior Designer/Design Engineer running the project.
  • Report & correct errors as required and proactively contribute in developing procedures to eliminate repeats.
  • Help Sales to complete job specifications, proposals and other Sales related tasks.
  • Proactively monitor jobs and suggest cost/time saving improvements where possible.
  • Manage your own workload through communications with other Design Office and production staff.
  • Report & correct errors as required and proactively contribute to DRIVE procedures to eliminate future issues.
  • Produce design as required to meet the Design Office and Production schedules.
  • Work to procedures & policies, to ensure your design output is of the required quality & accuracy.
  • Work with other departments to assist their efforts to meet planned & unplanned task deadlines.
  • Work with all staff in establishing and maintaining a satisfying and productive work environment for all Design Office staff.

Person Specification:
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (ideally Mechanical, Composites or Ship Science)
  • 5 years experience in a comparable design environment
  • AUTOCAD or Solidworks (Preferred) or similar
  • Mechanical / Structural composite design experience
  • Sailing experience (desirable but not essential)
