Aftersales Technician & Coordinator

My client based in Southampton have a unique and exciting opportunity for an Aftersales Technician & Coordinator to join their team on a full time permanent basis to provided professional warranty and service aftercare for a collection of high calibre yachts.

You will be based most of the time in their Southampton office but with frequent travel around the med.

Specific responsibilities include (but will not be limited to) the following:
o To provide in-house technical support for motor yachts as required, with a strong bias on system integration, electrical & engineering.
o Commissioning and handover – visit the factory in Italy prior to handover, conduct final snagging, prepare the yacht for handover.
o Accompany the Brand Manager to accept the yacht and meet the client.
o Client communication - provide a single point of contact for all warranty concerns in the first two years of new boat ownership for nominated Yachts, ensuring they are kept fully informed of the progress and status of all work being carried out.
o Update and regularly review status on interactive Aftersales Apps.
o Process warranty claims using the factory system, ordering and tracking parts, providing detailed estimates when required.
o Develop and maintain a good rapport with contractors and counterparts in the build factory to ensure a professional and efficient service is delivered.
o Maintain detailed administration, ensuring all warranty costs are recharged to sub contractors or manufacturers as appropriate.
o Settle disputes relating to warranty contract in a professional, diplomatic, courteous and calm manner, informing Line Manager in the advent of an event escalating, so appropriate action can be quickly taken.
o Maintain a flexible, warm and polite approach towards every customer, providing the very highest level of customer service, enhancing customer experience wherever possible.
o Provide out of hours telephone support as and when required.

Person Specification
• Previous experience with either construction, maintenance or operation of yachts, and detailed technical knowledge of power boat systems and equipment a requirement.
• Engineering AEC2 minimum with preferred Y4 and above.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with customers, suppliers and colleagues alike.
• Solid commercial and business acumen.
• A smart well-presented appearance.
• Languages, particularly Italian would be an advantage.
• Must have a flexible attitude to working weekends if required and be able to travel both in
the UK and abroad at short notice if needed.
• The ideal candidate will currently be working in a similar role within the marine industry.
