Technical Executive

As a Technical Executive, you will assist the Head of Technical Services in providing comprehensive support to clients in the UK marine industry. Your role will involve offering guidance, information, and effective advocacy on technical and environmental matters. By fulfilling these duties, you will contribute to meeting the needs of the customers and promoting customer engagement with the organization.

Experience Required
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a marine field -  Naval architecture/engineering/yacht design.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, preferably involving compliance with national standards and regulations. (If you have less than 5 yrs please do still apply, the right attidue is the most important thing!) 
  • Broad technical knowledge, particularly in areas such as Recreational Craft Directive, Large Yachts, and Passenger Vessels.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). You will be presenting in front of committees so you need to be a confident speaker.
  • Proficiency in project management and organisation.
  • Ability to network effectively and negotiate at various levels.

What will you be doing…
  • Assist companies with technical inquiries and compliance issues. Including but not limited to all aspects of vessel and vessel component compliance.  
  • Provide advice and guidance on technical requirements.
  • Conduct research and consult with the industry on key issues.
  • Represent the business on national and international technical committees and government bodies. Such as BSI, ISO, MCA, SEAC, SCV & DPSSG. Ensuring the Marine Industries voice is represented during the creation and review of regulations of vessel design and operation as well as environmental considerations.
  • Review, create & contribute to technical reports and updates.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating technical details on the website.
  • Deliver training courses and workshops.
  • Develop industry responses to government and standard-making bodies on key issues, such as transitioning to net-zero with alternative fuels.
  • Establish effective communication channels with governmental and non-governmental agencies, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, ISO, and British Standards Institution.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in a design field, be that engineering, naval arch or yacht design who wants to move away from design but utilise all your experience to make a difference in the industry!
