Our client is currently expanding their Systems Engineering Team, working as a part of the team which develops high quality and complex systems and platforms.

This role will allow you to apply and develop your systems engineering knowledge to new and varied challenges in the maritime sector from supporting customers in concept phase development through to the delivery of capability into service.

Playing a critical role in the overall system design requirements for the their products, the Systems Engineer will also oversee all of the projects from initial conception to delivery. The right individual will have experience working with various marine or defence organisations and system components (software engineering, hardware engineering, integration and test, production, manufacturing and logistics).

The right individual for this role will be comfortable undertaking a leadership role and will act as a mentor to other Systems Engineers. You will also be comfortable working in a team environment and independently, managing the scope of work, schedule, estimates and identifying any technical risks of a project.

You will join an energetic and experienced team, supporting the delivery of systems engineering activities throughout the lifecycle. In this role you will be:
  • Supporting the development and management of User and System level requirements, acceptance and test planning and management for complex systems and platforms.
  • Applying systems engineering processes (e.g. ISO15288:2015) across the lifecycle and developing appropriate engineering documentation, eg Management Plans, Requirement Strategies, Acceptance Plans, Architectural Definitions.
  • Developing your understanding of engineering within the MOD's procurement framework, Knowledge In Defence (KID), to develop the engineering artefacts required to support the customer's business case process and CADMID phases.
  • Developing architectures across the enterprise using standard languages (e.g. Archimate, UML, SysML) and frameworks (e.g. MoDAF, TOGAF).

Key Requirements:
Degree in Engineering or other related field
Proven track record in the timely delivery of engineering related projects;
Strong experience in the delivery of complex systems in a regulated sector
Excellent knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, standards and best practices;
Working experience in network design and architecture;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Familiarity with requirements and verification management tools such as DOORS;
Knowledge of safety engineering and human factors engineering is an asset
Experience in defense or government domain preferably in naval ship sector a significant asset
The right individual will also be happy and able to travel as the business requires and have the ability to obtain relevant security clearance.
