My client is seeking a Senior Marine Engineer to support commercial marine vessel projects across their full lifecycle — from concept and procurement through to in-service support and upgrades. This role offers the chance to take on complex engineering challenges and contribute to more sustainable solutions in the maritime sector.
About the Role
The Senior Marine Engineer will lead the delivery of technical marine engineering solutions across a wide range of vessels, with a particular focus on lightweight, high-speed craft for both UK and international clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing marine mechanical systems using 2D and 3D CAD tools
- Conducting surveys and engineering investigations
- Leading technical projects and liaising with suppliers and clients
- Supporting R&D initiatives and sustainability-focused innovations
- Contributing to design improvements, build efficiency, and technical reporting
- There will also be opportunities to support consulting and R&D projects in related markets, including submarines and defence.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- HND, HNC, or Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ marine design experience (15–70m+ vessels)
- Strong AutoCAD 2D skills; 3D CAD proficiency desirable
- Experience with system schematics, ship specifications and technical drawings
- Solid knowledge of construction materials, classification rules, and integration challenges
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or actively working toward it)
