We’re looking for an avid sailor who is passionate about the racing scene and can make strategic decisions to continue the success of the sailing club. With approximately 300 privately owned keelboats and dinghies, and their large fleet ranging from Optimists to 2 x 43 foot cruising yachts, it really is the one of the premier high profile places to work at in the Middle East.

The Racing Manager will be working closely with the General Manager to deliver budget objectives whilst ensuring that premium racing experiences are delivered and play a leading role in delivering quality.

The basic salary offered Is excellent and there is further help with relocation costs an HR allowance and also a generous housing allowance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Managing development, delivery, and cost forecasting of the racing programmes (keelboats and dinghies) and racing events for both club racing and regattas (national and international)
  • Developing notices of race and sailing instructions
  • Developing Racing calendar
  • Managing the organization and delivery of key Youth events
  • Dotted line management of all sailing staff responsible for operational delivery of the programmes
  • Maintaining and ensuring compliance with relevant departmental policies
  • Ensuring compliance with international racing rules and safety
  • Ensuring compliance with UAE sailing authorities
  • Marketing activities for racing through social media and direct channels
  • Sourcing and securing sponsors for supporting racing events
  • Position on the Sailing Sub Committee
 
Qualifications/Skills
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Sailboat racing within a club or training centre environment
  • Working knowledge of RYA Racing programmes
  • Relevant previous experience as a Racing Manager or related position
  • IT literate – MS Office and ability to learn Club-specific software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Ability to present to an audience in both informal and semi-formal settings
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail
  • Forecasting and budgeting
  • Project management
  • Team management and leadership skills
