About the Role Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you’ll play a key part in improving manufacturing processes and quality control. This role spans three sites across Dorset and Hampshire, supporting both existing production and new product development projects. You’ll work closely with managers and supervisors to identify areas for improvement, resolve technical issues, and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support across all manufacturing locations to troubleshoot process issues and drive improvements.
- Use 8D methodology with department leads to reduce quality concerns and improve consistency.
- Support new product development with manufacturing input and stage-gate process involvement.
- Lead quality and process improvement activities using techniques such as 5 Whys and root cause analysis.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintain safe working practices (including risk assessments and SSoW).
- Analyse production data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to projects involving process optimisation, equipment upgrades, and new tech integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Design, Sales, Manufacturing, and Purchasing.
- Support training initiatives for production staff on new methods, technologies, and best practices.
- Develop and monitor quality control systems, standards, and performance.
- Carry out inspections and testing to ensure quality targets are consistently met.
- Strong initiative and decision-making skills – comfortable operating independently.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organisational ability.
- Clear and confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective working within cross-functional teams.
- Natural leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Creativity and strong technical expertise to drive innovation.
- Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in at least one of the following manufacturing environments:
- GRP composites
- Metal fabrication (MIG & TIG welding)
- Rubber hose production
- GRP composites
- Working knowledge of quality control systems, including Six Sigma and SPC.
- Solid understanding of Lean principles, continuous improvement, and root cause techniques.
- Comfortable with MS Office and digital production tools.
- Exposure to automation and robotic processes, especially MIG welding, is an advantage.
- Track record of leading 8D quality resolution teams.

- Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
- Working Hours: 38 per week
- Mon–Thurs: 7:30am–4:00pm (30 min lunch)
- Friday: 7:30am–1:30pm
- Mon–Thurs: 7:30am–4:00pm (30 min lunch)
