JOB PURPOSE
 
To effectively and efficiently support the marina teams in the process of recruiting, managing, and providing the right direction and support to the employees working in the organisation. To provide and facilitate training, managing performance, incentives, leadership, and wellness.

Our client has c130 permanent employees and is supported by c120 casual employees through the boating season. People are the key asset of the business and the key role of the People Manager is to support and develop our employees.
The People Manager will be responsible for enhancing existing systems in relation to recruitment and managing people. In addition the People Manager will support the managers in the implementation of these systems through training and development, as well as attending all interviews and working with the Managers in managing employees performance and development.
The People Manager will provide training where appropriate, but also develop training systems, working with the Technical Manager and external providers as required. The People Manager will drive the organisations culture through their work incorporating incentives, leadership and employee wellness.

 MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
  1. Work with the Marina Operations team to drive the people strategy. Implement a people first culture across the whole employee lifecycle, looking at how we recruit, develop and retain highly engaged employees and offboard ineffective employees.
  2. Develop a positive and inclusive working culture with a practical and engaging approach to how we embed equality, diversity and inclusion across the workforce.
  3. Ensure that the administration processes, compliance, systems, policies and procedures are easy for our people to engage with while delivering high quality and compliant outcomes.
  4. Work with employees at all levels and build professional relationships; understand the marina teams’ requirements and strategies, provide direction, coaching and guidance as required.
  5. Support the marina managers with capability and performance issues, raise managers competence in dealing with employee relations and issues (sickness, disciplinary, grievances, concerns during probationary periods, etc.).
  6. Attend hearings and interviews across the network of Company marinas.
  7. Support the marina managers by actively owning individual cases through to resolution.
  8. Work with the marina managers to plan and implement an effective learning and development programme that allows individuals to fullfill their potential, growing their confidence and expertise across all areas of work on the marina.
  9. Develop internal communication systems to ensure all employees are familiar with Company goals and how each individual is working toward those goals.
  10. Develop recruitment policies and procedures to ensure that ABC are an employer of choice.
  11. Promote employee engagement initiatives.
  12. Undertake any other duties, within the scope of the job to maintain the efficient working of the Business.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATION
 
  • Strong organisational, communication and planning skills.

  • Proactive team player constantly exploring how to improve things, but with ability to work on own initiative.
 
  • Knowledge of employment law and capability to handle confidential matters with discretion and diplomacy.
 
  • Able to support with performance management, training and development and deliver advice to managers on all employee relations and absence cases.
 
  • Able to champion the onboarding process, ensuring the process is up to date and of a high quality and deliver new joiners inductions.
 
  • Broad understanding of the Human Resources function. Minimum 2 years experience in similar role.
 
  • Must hold a Full UK Driving license.
