Here at Marine Resources are actively recruiting for Mechanical Fitter at HMNB Portsmouth on a permanent long-term basis.
We have an exciting opportunity at Portsmouth’s RN Dockyard for a mechanical fitter working alongside the mechanical team ensuring all mechanical systems within the Locks and Docks are kept to a high standard.
You will be responsible for providing engineering duties on a wide range of mechanical parts and systems found within the dockyard and the locks from large saltwater pumping systems to general mechanical repairs to waterfront assets that are used for the docking and movement of RN vessels.
Required experience.
A time served industrial / heavy engineering or marine industry Mechanical Fitter turner.
Flexible attitude with the ability to work closely as part of a team, and confident to be able work unassisted when required.
This is a shore-based role working as part of the saltwater services team, who support the repair, maintenance and operation of the waterfront assets used for the movement and docking of vessels.
Working as part of a team, you will be carrying out routine planned maintenance, reactive repairs and testing on mechanical systems, machinery and high-volume saltwater pumps.
The role requires working in Confined Spaces, and underground installations (CS training will be provided if required).

- Proven track record of the repair and maintenance on heavy engineering equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety best practice.
- Mechanical engineering knowledge
- Fitter Turner experience
- Technical Problem solving
- Work with minimal supervision
- HP/LP Air plant maintaining experience.
- Hydraulic systems experience
- Experience of presenting and communicating to various stakeholders
- Confined Space entry training (minimum medium risk) Training will be provided if required.
- Required to work overtime and on call when required.
