Marine Resources are recruiting for a Lifting Project Engineer to join a well established luxury yacht building company in Northamptonshire.

JOB SCOPE:
• Produce Lifting Plans appropriate for a marine manufacturer.
• Work with employees to understand the process and develop lifting plans.
• Provide appropriate risk assessment for the plans.
• Where necessary conduct safe trials to validate procedures.
• Attend meetings to define, develop and refine plans.
• Liaise with internal personnel to achieve above.
• Coordination work to manufacturing schedules.
• Liaise with external providers for assistance and certification.
• Investigate different methods of lifting and provide justifications.
• Become active member of Facilities team and support other facilities work activities including some project work.
• Supplier, contractor, and equipment selection, ensuring compliance to Health, Safety and Environmental regulations in addition to ensuring working practices employed are compliant to company procedures.

• Approach the decision process with a careful evaluation of possible outcomes.
• Make decisions based on risk assessment
• Consider operational requirements and benefit analysis.


Key Interfaces:
• The role is positioned in a small departmental team and involves working closely the Facilities Manager.
• The role has a significant interface with employees throughout the business at all levels.
• The role also interfaces with management in all aspects of project delivery.

Key Tasks:
• Weigh, log, and record actual methods.
• Generate, print, and sign off documents
• Manage lists of work and agreed targets.
• Review previous plans and update when required.
• Discussion of lifting methods in group situations.
• Design simple mechanical solutions to jig and tooling equipment.
• Interface with the fabricators and other personnel to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Collection of data and information needed for the role
• Assist in purchasing and other administration activities when needed.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Maintain appropriate records for both projects and operational requirements.
• Liaison with the employees for allocation of internal resources.
• Procurement of lifting accessories, parts and services via supplier identification, quotation, order placement, delivery, and procurement closure.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Aptitude for lifting processes.
• Experience of cranes and lifting techniques
• Lifting or crane operator qualification.
• Appointed Person qualification preferred.
• Practical approach to problem solving supported by sound engineering aptitude.
• Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
• Experience in a related field i.e., manufacturing with crane use.
• Must be highly motivated and able to work unsupervised in a demanding role outlook
• Reasonable computer skills in excel, word outlook etc.
