Job Title: Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Purpose of Role: Focused on the vessel electrical system, the Lead Electrical Design Engineer will take charge of producing electrical drawing packages for the entire Yacht model range. This pivotal role extends to product improvement, R&D, and value engineering projects, ensuring that cutting-edge practices are seamlessly integrated into new designs and consistently applied to existing models.
This is a hands-on technical role, emphasizing the tangible output of accurate 2D CAD information for Yacht Production.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Design Leadership:
    • Take the lead for the electrical Design Change Request (DCR) process for all yachts within the range.
  • Standards Oversight:
    • Oversee existing design standards for Electrical systems, contributing to quality and consistency across the model range and manufacturing facilities.
  • Team Management:
    • Oversee the wider electrical design team and electrical production managers to achieve deliverables and deadlines.
  • Supply Chain Management:
    • Manage design aspects of the external supply chain in conjunction with Client Managers and Procurement.
  • Production Collaboration:
    • Maintain a close working relationship with the Production team, including Electrical, Engineering, and Joinery Departments.
  • Scope of Supply:
    • Establish a clear and accurate scope of supply using the project’s MasterWork List.
  • Meeting Participation:
    • Attend development, production, and project meetings to stay abreast of contract variations and production feedback.
  • Resource Management:
    • Maintain and manage resources within the electrical design team.
  • CAD Expertise:
    • Check, update, and issue accurate 2D Electrical schematic and panel drawings (AutoCAD).
  • Contract Specific CAD Development:
    • Develop contract-specific 2D CAD electrical information for production (AutoCAD).
  • Cable Running Schedules:
    • Produce cable running schedules using knowledge of manufacturing processes and installation requirements.
Requirements:
Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of marine AC and DC electrical systems, materials, and techniques.
  • Good knowledge of all phases of electrical installation related to small craft production.
  • A sound understanding of yacht systems, including knowledge of component location and installation requirements.
Skills:
  • Computer literacy/aptitude using software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
Experience:
  • Preferable experience with marine digital switching systems such as CZone.
  • Preferable experience with marine lighting systems and system integration.
  • Preferable experience in marine electrical and hybrid drive systems.
Qualifications:
  • A design-related degree/qualification or equivalent electrical design experience.
  • Qualified to 18th Edition IT wiring regulations.
  • Preferably qualified as BMEA Marine Electrical Technician.
