As an active member of the technical design division, you will possess a robust technical skill set coupled with a comprehensive grasp of manufacturing processes in marine or automotive industry. You will contribute to the design and evolution of products on a project-centric basis, offering vital support to a dynamic assembly line operation. A creative eye and a keen focus on detail will be essential for this role.

Responsible For:
Handling the design, development, and overall technical support of our client's products, aligning with quality standards, and undertaking tasks as directed by management to fulfil the company’s developmental strategy.
Main Duties:
  • Design: Produce creative designs for production, from sketch, surface modelling, tooling design. A key understanding of the restrictions of engineering and an understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Lead: Spearheaded new development projects as directed by management. Manage the day to day tasks of the junior members of the team.
  • Support: Provide technical assistance to production and sales departments.
  • Liaison: Communicate on technical matters with component suppliers.
  • Documentation: Produce, upkeep, and oversee technical assembly and manufacturing drawings.
  • Advisory Role: Assist management in decisions related to design and development.
  • Testing: Participate in on-water testing of products. (Power Boat Level2 would be advantageous, after 6 month probation you will get to go on a course if you don’t already have this)
  • Prototyping: Assist in the construction and testing of prototypes from concept to pre-production stage.
  • BOM Management: Oversee the production and control of Bill of Materials (BOMs).
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Formal Design Education: Degree standard or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in a Design/Engineering role.
  • CAD Skills: Proficient in 3D CAD (NX preferred) with advanced Surface Modelling experience.
  • Conceptual Design: Advanced skills in creating Exterior Conceptual Designs, both hand-drawn and digital.
  • Composite Design: Experience in designing tools and parts for Composite manufacture.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing design projects within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Understanding of various manufacturing processes common to automotive and marine industries.
  • Marine Industry: Familiarization with the Marine Industry is advantageous.
  • Moulding Techniques: Familiarization with various moulding techniques/laminate schedules is advantageous.
