 Laminator (Wet Lay-Up) - Marine Industry
Oundle, Peterborough

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced GRP Laminator with expertise in wet lay-up processes to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the manufacturing of GRP components, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision. This role specifically involves working within the marine industry, contributing to the production of components used in marine vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare molds and tools for the laminating process.
  • Accurately cut fiberglass mat, cloth, and other reinforcement materials to size.
  • Mix resin systems according to specified formulas and ensure correct application.
  • Apply resin and reinforcement materials to molds using wet lay-up techniques.
  • Ensure proper saturation and consolidation of the laminate, avoiding air bubbles and voids.
  • Trim and finish laminated components to required specifications.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to technical specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to meet project deadlines and production targets.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven experience as a GRP Laminator, specifically with wet lay-up processes.
  • Experience working within the marine industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, including fiberglass and resin systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
