Commissioning Skipper - Ipswich

Do you want to represent a leading Yacht brand sailing brand new vessels.
We are looking for a STCW95, Yachtmaster Offshore Sailor with commercial endorsement to take on the opportunity to be the Commissioning Skipper representing a leading Yacht brand.
This in a permanent position within the team. As The Commissioning Skipper you will be based at Ipswich, reporting directly to the Commissioning Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Testing, commissioning and handover of new yachts.
• Maintain our clients good image with all client contact, advice, handover, warranty and after-sales, both during business and social activities. To be presentable with good level of customer service in line with the brand.
• Skippering and crewing yachts for local movements, sea trials, handover sails and offshore deliveries. Full responsibility for safety of yacht and crew at all times when acting as Skipper.
• Managing the team on board during commissioning, including commissioning and production staff, third party suppliers and sub-contractors. You'll be a team player with the ability to act as crew for yachts with a different appointed Skipper.
• Organising and managing time and prioritise tasks for yourself and other team members.
• Assisting with fitting of sails undertake basic rigging tasks, rig checks and maintenance (must be comfortable and confident climbing the mast).
• Performing all sea trials competently and efficiently.
• Deliveries to or from boat shows/ private views may include assisting with set-up and break down of shows. Assist as required at boat shows, regattas and events.
• Troubleshooting of sailing and technical systems. Oversee and assist with receiving, checking, dressing and stepping of mast, boom and rigging.
• You will be flexible in approach as dictated by tides, weather and deadlines.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive sailing and skippering experience, including on yachts of ~24m.
  • Experience of sailing in tidal waters and on long offshore passages.
  • Strong boat handling skills.
  • Good knowledge of engineering, electrical, technical and electronics systems on modern sailing yachts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office software.
  • Fit, active and in good health.


QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATION

  • ENG1 Medical Fitness Certificate
  • UK Driving License
UK Passport, or right to work in the UK

Yachtmaster Offshore Sail, with commercial endorsement and STCW95 is desirable but not essential .
