Commissioning Engineer – Marine Technology
Permanent, Full-time | Hampshire | Competitive Salary + Benefits
Are you excited by the idea of working on cutting-edge marine technology? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team driving innovation in autonomous vessels and platforms. You’ll be right at the heart of bringing next-generation systems to life—testing, validating, and making sure everything runs smoothly out on the water.
This is a brand-new role, so you’ll have the chance to shape it from day one. If you’re hands-on, thrive on problem-solving, and enjoy collaborating with talented engineers, this could be the perfect move.
What you’ll be doing:
  • Getting involved in the testing and integration of autonomous marine vessels
  • Powering up systems, calibrating sensors, and configuring communications
  • Troubleshooting commissioning issues and feeding ideas back into product improvements
  • Working closely with project teams and supporting customer handovers
  • Playing a key role in Factory, Harbour, and Sea Acceptance Testing (FAT, HAT & SAT)
What we’re looking for: You’ll need a solid engineering background—marine, defence, robotics or similar—and the drive to get stuck into technical challenges.
Essential:
  • HNC in technology, engineering, or science (or equivalent experience)
  • Background in the marine industry
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communicator, confident working across different teams
Nice to have:
  • HND/Degree in a technical discipline
  • Knowledge of comms protocols (analogue/digital I/O, RS232/422/485, CANbus)
  • Hands-on experience with autonomous systems
  • Forklift licence
  • Organised, methodical approach and calm under pressure
Why you’ll love it here:
  • Competitive salary and permanent, full-time stability
  • Pension, private medical cover & life insurance
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Free onsite parking
This is a chance to be part of something exciting in an emerging field, with real impact on the future of marine technology.
