39 hours - Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 4:30pm
Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm

You will report to the Senior Designers and work within a team of designers striving to deliver the most luxurious, elegant and forward-thinking products on the market.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
A practical thinker, with a strong appetite to develop a holistic knowledge of the fit out and exterior engineering design of our boats. This will involve working alongside the project designers and also shadowing and deck fitters to be able to deliver the best instruction for fit.
The candidate will be a fast learner, with excellent communication skills and the ability to convey factual information clearly and concisely.
A knowledge of boats with a background in technical drafting, design engineering, CAD Design / engineering or similar. Experience of Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software is necessary.
You must be able to communicate well with other disciplines (Designer, Engineers, Procurement & production)
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
You will work on all new yacht design projects, setting out the deck and exterior fitting on our yachts. You will see this through to creating instructional drawings for our fit out team. You will provide engineered and considered arrangements and designs that meet the yachts specification, including all options.

  1. Exterior fitting design detail
    Taking the initial concept CAD model from the concept/ Naval architecture designs, you will need to review the yachts specification and options to populate the yacht assemblies with fitting that are engineered and resolved. You will communicate these design solutions with the relevant teams via an Excel BOM and 3D models for CAD to take on to fabrication.
-Position of deck hardware and systems (E.G. Mooring hardware, Rails, fitting, and awning) -Collaborate with designers and managers to clarify any technical issues
-Design detail of rails, glass and tables, as required
-Specification or part followed by the creation of an exterior fitting BOM.

  1. Design instruction for production / fit out
    Creation of technical instruction drawing, giving instruction to the deck fitting team where to fit all deck hardware.
-Presentation of exterior customer options (Crane, Awning, Spa baths)
-Design standard for fitment.
-Organise information according to the user’s needs.
-Modify and maintain drawings
SKILLS AND TASKS
  • 3D and 2D CAD modelling and drafting using Siemens NX.
  • Excellent technical presentation skills
  • Strong communicator, as you will be expected to work closely with Designers, Engineers and production/fabricator to gain an understanding and agreement on best practices.
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Able to look at the design holistically
  • Understanding of budgets and manufacturing feasibility
  • Attend yachts in build to offer design support and respond to any queries
  • A knowledge of mechanism design would be beneficial.
  • A knowledge of boat use (Mooring, system, specification) would be beneficial.
  • Involvement in the NPI and NPD process
  • Delivery of part information / drawing in accordance with the development schedule
  • Assist with research and development projects
  • Support of the Development department’s other design disciplines when required.
