Marine Resources are recruiting for a full time permanent Commissioning Boat Builder role based in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The Commissioning Boatbuilder will support the commissioning team through all aspects of the commissioning process. From new builds to repair and refits, you will work alongside a team getting some of the worlds finest yachts ready to hit the water, through sea trails and into handover phase.

Working as part of the team, you are responsible for ensuring our client's luxury cruising yachts are finished to high standards and that all joinery and shipwright work is completed prior to handover to the yacht’s owner.

Key Job Responsibilities
• Assist Commissioning Skippers in identifying any boatbuilding issues in new yachts, providing solutions and ensuring the issues are rectified
• Rectify any joinery or shipwright defects prior to handover of the yacht.
• Ensure all work is carried out to the correct quality standards and follows best practice.
• Support the Commissioning Team with other duties including, but not limited to boat
cleaning, site maintenance, trial sails and yacht deliveries.
• Co-ordinate with the Production and Design to ensure ongoing continuous improvement.
• Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
• Self development and knowledge base of area of expertise

Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of boatbuilding tools, techniques and practices, desirably for luxury cruising yachts.
- Knowledge of GRP finishing, desirable.

Skills
- Excellent communication skills.

Experience
- Extensive boatbuilding experience.
- Previous experience in the marine industry working with timber/GRP yachts
- Sailing experience, desirable.
- French polishing experience, desirable.

Qualifications
- Carpentry and or boat building specific qualifications/certifications.

Other Requirements:
To travel, including overnight stays and overseas trips. 1 trip every 1 to 2 months, approximate.
Full driving licence valid in the UK is required
