Based out of their Headquarters in London or from their secondary office in Southampton, this company is THE leading engineering company in wind energy driving sustainable and innovative solutions in the shipping industry.

Due to growth, this innovative leader is looking for an experienced Naval Architect to help develop and lead the design of fuel-saving, environmentally friendly technology in the shipping sector. Leading the design for integration of the renewable technology onto both new builds and through retrofit.

Key Responsibilities:
Creating and contributing to technical integration packs to be sent to third parties such as shipyards, customers, and design houses for development, Plan Approval.
Working in accordance to rule requirements and regulations, including visibility, stability, safety, navigation, operation, EEDI etc. (Technical Feasibility Studies)
Providing input on Plan Approval
Contributing to hydrodynamics to predict ship performance and optimisation of the new technology
Liaise internally and externally to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, taking management of engineering work packages, providing guidance during the fit / retrofit process and troubleshooting any issues
Deliver technical presentations, reports and papers and working closely and actively with governing bodies eg. SSPA, MARINE, Class & Universities

Education & Qualifications
Degree qualified in Naval Architecture or equivalent
5 7 years+ working in naval architecture ideally in a similar role
Experience of ship structures, classification and general arrangements
Classification and production Type Approval for Marine Equipment
Strong understanding of vessel propulsion and performance analysis
Strong working knowledge of hydrodynamics of below water line effects, rudder / propeller / hull
Experienced in CFD studies
Proficient in various software including 2D & 3D CAD

The ideal individual for this role would have a proven experience in dealing with third party suppliers ie. Shipyards, suppliers & design houses, along with strong background in Naval Architecture within the shipping industry or another similar environment.

Overall, the right individual for this role will be collaborative in their approach, confident and adaptable with excellent problem solving skills. Due to the nature of the role, you will have high attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a fast pace, dynamic start-up environment.
