Senior Manufacturing Engineer

A Manufacturing Engineer is required to join a leading Dorset-based specialist in the field of composites.

Having experienced continued growth, both through new and existing customers, the brand now employ a strong permanent team across three manufacturing sites and build for marine, defence, space and many other industries. With expertise across both GRP and Carbon, they are fast becoming the go-to brand!

Due to this growth, the organisation are now looking to employ a skilled engineer to oversee a mixture of new and existing customers across their composite projects. Duties for this exciting but challenging role will include:

  • Co-ordination of projects through concept to delivery.
  • Producing detailed work instructions for composite parts & tooling.
  • Co-ordinate engineering activities, utilising external suppliers where appropriate.
  • BOM configuration & setting up items on computer system.
  • Production of drawings.
  • Ensure the establishment of clear requirements for the project with the customer prior to the commencement of manufacture.
  • Preparing Engineering Management plans, including estimates for schedule and resource requirements.
  • Ensure materials are made available in a timely manner, either through direct procurement or delegating procurement activities.
  • Project manage component manufacture through factory and working with external suppliers as necessary.
  • Co-ordination of part manufacture on the shop-floor with production supervisors.
  • Negotiation of variations to contract / job as well as estimating when required.
  • Occasional UK and overseas travel.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree qualified / or 5+ years' experience in similar role.
  • Experience of using Siemens NX.
  • Excellent working knowledge of AS9100 & GD&T ASME with an ability to use both to an advanced level.
  • Experiences of AS9100 quality processes.
  • Positive and professional attitude with the ability to work well independently.
  • Proactive with the ability to identify process improvement and implement and changes.
  • Ability to gain UK Security Clearance

As an individual, you will ideally come from a manufacturing or engineering related degree background with several years of post-graduate experience within a composites and/or a defence environment. You'll be passionate about what you do, identifying ways to improve process and exceed customer expectations.
