Our client basedin Bournemouth is growing due their team due to recent sucess!

They are keen to expand their engineering team who work closely with the project management team to build and test their range of thrusters and hydraulic cylinders. The need a mechanical fitter to carry out testing in house and work with classification societies for product approval.

There will be some travel in UK and overseas to oversee installations, repair and commission our range of thruster and hydraulic cylinder products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for -

-Accountability for the assembly, testing and servicing of OYS's entire range of bow and stern thrusters, as well as hydraulic cylinders and other related hydraulic systems. In particular, accurate assembly of spiral / bevel gear sets ensuring correct alignment and meshing.
-Assembly and testing of all thrusters and hydraulic cylinders, including maintaining records of defects / test data / continuous improvements etc.
-Overall responsibility for quality assurance on assembly of all thrusters and cylinders.
-Engineer for thruster and hydraulic field work regarding installation, repairs or servicing matters.
-Organising and responsibility of all tools / tool chests for the thruster / hydraulics area to be in good condition at all times, and to build on tooling requirements and manage tooling budget.
-Overseeing of all classification testing such as Lloyds and ABS, organising test equipment / calibration of instrumentation for these tests.
-Provide feedback loop to design department on continuous improvements to easy assembly, improve serviceability and reduce assembly time.
-Assistance in general engineering and development of the thruster and cylinder range, encompassing occasional office based tasks.
-Assistance in the development of assembly guides and installation manuals as and when required.
-Construction and testing of yacht rigging as required.



Candidate Requirements:

-Prior experience of mechanical engineering essential. A good knowledge of gearbox assembly an advantage.
-Hydraulic systems experience an advantage
-Electrical / PLC control systems experience an advantage
-Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines essential
-Willingness to work extended hours as and when the needs of the business dictate.
-Good team player.
