My client based in Vancouver provides breakdown, repair and scheduled maintenance services to the marine industry.

They repair and service all the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems of boats including engines, controls, AC and DC electrics, electronics, plumbing, etc.

Forthis role we require a multikilled marine engineer withthe following skills

• Good spoken and written English.
• Used to working in a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with diverse groups; in person, by phone and by email.
• Good knowledge of yacht mechanical and electrical systems, and experience in maintaining motoryachts and sailboats, conducting preventative maintenance, and trouble-shooting and performing mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Strong sense of customer service, and significant experience in a customer facing environment.
• Must be able to access boats including walking, climbing ladders, boarding from the dock, or another boat.
• Good physical and mobile condition with no injuries or illnesses which would prevent daily attendance for this hands-on, physical role, and the ability to lift 50lbs/23kg.
• Must be able to swim - the position involves working on or near the water.
• A valid driver's license

• Self-motivated, and flexible with an ability to work long hours when required.
• A keen eye for details.
• Punctual and organised, and able to work alone and in a team.
• Clean, tidy and professional in appearance at all times.
• Experience of teaching and mentoring apprentices.

Salary, Hours and Working Conditions:
• Full-time, hourly paid, in the $30-$40 range - competitive and commensurate with experience and the local market. Wage review after 3 months and thereafter annually.
• The company hours are from 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with 30 minutes for lunch. However during the season, (April to September), on-call work will be required at weekends and on statutory holidays - days off in lieu will be given and overtime paid.
• A minimum of 2 weeks leave per annum. Vacation pay is earnt at 4% of all wages paid.
