Job description

High Voltage Technician (Electrician)
Location: Portsmouth
Hours: 37 hours per week. Some level of flexibility will be expected due to infrequent need to support with overtime
Salary: £38,000 – £41,700
Are you an experienced Electrician with a background in HV/LV systems? This role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to work within a unique environment that combines historic facilities with cutting-edge infrastructure.
What you’ll be doing As part of the Electrical Distribution Team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe and reliable power supplies across the site. Your work will include:
  • Maintaining and repairing HV and LV systems across the electrical network
  • Supporting project delivery as part of wider electrical upgrades and installations
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices at all times
  • Responding to call-outs and providing support during evenings/weekends when required, although this is intermittient
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that keeps essential systems running smoothly while contributing to ongoing improvement projects.
What we’re looking for To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation, or City & Guilds equivalent
  • Ideally, BS7671 18th Edition and BS2391 Test & Inspection qualifications
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and mobile devices
