Electrical & Control Engineer!
Based out of their Headquarters in London or from their secondary office in Southampton, this company is THE leading engineering company in wind energy driving sustainable and innovative solutions in the shipping industry.
Due to growth, this innovative leader is looking for an experienced Electrical & Control Engineer to help develop and achieve their goals in relation to the electrical, control and software engineering design.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Liaising internally and externally to manage the relationships of consultants and suppliers
  • Creating and leading contract specification documents for the procurement and delivery of all electrical, control system, software applications. Eg. FAT
  • Deliver product approvals and future Type Approvals
  • Lead the development of instrumentation, measurement and data acquisition systems (including ship to shore communications to feed into future Condition Based Monitoring/ Digital Twinning).
  • Development of data gathering and data analysis techniques and methods to align with ongoing performance validation of Systems
  • Continuously strive to develop and increase efficiency within the companies systems as well as identifying any potential technical risks
  • Lead and contribute to manuals and documentation to guide users through both operation and maintenance
  • Working with third parties such as suppliers and customers to any troubleshoot issues

Experience:
  • Degree in Electrical / Control Engineering or similar
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of vessel electrical systems, integration and Class requirements
  • Proven experience in the maritime sector; including electro-mechanical design (electric motors, VFD drive control), ship power options and main engine control (D/G, MSB and Shaft Power)
  • Proven experience in marine testing requirements and Type Approvals
  • Experience of instrumentation and data acquisition / monitoring systems.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and customers such as Shipyards is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in programming and software development projects is desirable but not essential
  • Willingness and ability to travel at short notice and/or longer periods (Eg. Up to 1 month)

The ideal individual for this role would have a proven experience in delivering and signing off designs prior to manufacture, along with on-board experience installing, commissioning or troubleshooting of electrical/control systems within the shipping industry or another similar environment.

Overall, the right individual for this role will be collaborative in their approach, confident and adaptable with excellent problem solving skills. Due to the nature of the role, you will have high attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a fast pace, dynamic start-up environment.
