We are looking for a Design Engineer to join a small, dedicated team of designers whose passion for design, quality, innovation, and boating is at the heart of everything they do. You will become an integral part of the team, working for a company with a reputation as a world-class yacht constructor, and be expected to bring enthusiasm and fresh perspectives while working on all aspects of yacht design and production.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the design and engineering team in generating solutions for a range of current and development projects. You will work on compliance activities, the design of yacht systems and mechanisms and help to develop installation and production procedures for each yacht. The main activities will include the production of 3D system models, routing, 2D drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.


  • Development of components that meet the project brief, budget, and quality standards
  • Ensure deliverables are met within a timely manner, as per the given work schedule
  • Produce accurate models and drawings, which contain sufficient and accurate manufacturing information
  • Generate comprehensive technical specifications and installation drawings
  • 3D development of yacht systems
  • Utilise Design Standards to ensure an excellent standard of development work is upheld and to minimise unnecessary rework
  • Action any rework through the use of the company's design change procedure
  • Create relevant Bills of Materials
  • Maintain collaboration with supporting development teams and the production office


  • A Design Engineering, Mechanical Design or Product Design Degree, Preferably in Yacht Design
  • An understanding of yacht systems in the 30-80ft range

  • Proficient with:
  • AutoCAD
  • Solidworks or similar
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good knowledge of RCD II Regulation and MCA coding and relevant ISO Standards
  • Able to collaborate with the team in the Design Office
  • Knowledge of the principal design requirements for a yacht
  • Appreciation and understanding of the marine environment
  • Recognition and understanding of the luxury goods and luxury yacht market and client base
  • A practical understanding and interest in sailing/yachts is desirable
