**THIS POSITION HAS NOW BEEN FILLED** JOB LOCATION UK JOB TITLE Experienced First Mate JOB REF MR-OBS-86490 JOB DESCRIPTION The Ellen MacArthur Trust requires an experienced, yachtmaster qualified first mate, for a six month contract (April 2009-End September 2009). In 2009 the Ellen MacArthur Trust will sail Round Britain with stopovers in 20 key ports. The voyage will be made up of 20 legs with a total of over 100 young people recovering from cancer and leukaemia sailing on board. Each leg will be linked to the Hospital where the young people on board were treated including a visit to talk to the medical staff, those currently in treatment and their families about the voyage. The trip is a unique opportunity for the young people now in recovery to communicate with those in treatment. The successful candidate will have a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster and have some experience skippering commercial yachts. They will work alongside the skipper and support them throughout the voyage. They must have a genuine interest in working with children and be comfortable in the corporate environment. This will be a high profile event and is expected to last four months. It is essential to have good communication skills and to be able to work as an integral part of a small team. We will be running a selection weekend in October.
