Marine and Watersports Specialist

The Marine and Watersports Specialist works with the Manager, Recreation and Marine Services in order to oversee the safe operation of KAUST marine recreation programs and marine services, and to ensure the proper care and operation of KAUST marine assets including vessels and facilities.


Major Responsibilities    

• Ensure safety to the highest standards across all marine operations
• Manage the  Facility Management organization to establish, oversee and guide marine recreation programs
• Ensuring appropriate care and use of KAUST fleet of vessels including pre-planned maintenance and safety standards
• Working with Service Providers to ensure safety and quality of all marine operations, including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, SCUBA diving, fishing, boat trips, beach operations and marine related events
• Overseeing waterside safety for a community of 15,000 people at maturity
• Ensuring proper care and operation of marine facilities including yacht club, boat maintenance facility, marinas, watersports centre and beaches
• Working with other departments to ensure a coordinated approach for all community events and activities
• Ensuring that vibrant and engaging marketing for marine recreation is provided by the service provider

Non-Technical Skills or Attributes    

• Excellent communication skills at all levels
• Excellent organizational skills

Required Education    

• Must have Degree in Business Administration or related discipline.
• Marine qualifications to recognized international standards.

Required Experience    

• Solid and proved experience with Marine services including maintenance and water-sports.
• Marine or civil engineering experience will be an added advantage
• HSE qualification desirable.
• Minimum 5 years marine industry experience.
• Experience in Educational institutions with related experience is desirable.
