JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • Provide a composite E,H & S service to the business units, providing guidance and support to the Business managers on all E, H & S matters.
  • Undertake the promotion, delivery and auditing of E, H & S policies and programmes in the workplace and ensure business units are legally compliant.

REPORTS TO
  • Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Achievement of KPI targets
  • Accurate and on time E, H & S reports and statistics
  • Promotion and use of E, H & S policies and procedures in conjunction with Line managers.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILIES

Planning
  • Help develop Company E, H & S objectives and standards
  • Recommend policy and standards improvement
  • Recommend improvements in line with ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001

Analysis and Interpretation
  • Measure progress towards objective attainment by using E, H & S statistics as parameters and to identify changes to policy
  • Use investigation techniques to prevent injury and serious potential injury recurrence

Operational
  • Ensure Company E, H & S policies and procedures are established in all areas, support their implementation and ensure standards are maintained.
  • Provide a consistently high level of advice and support to all managers and staff on E, H & S matters ensuring legal compliance.
  • Promote a culture of involvement in the Champions across the company.
  • Monitor the correct and effective use of PPE and ensure standards are being maintained
  • Provide assistance and support in Accident/Incident investigation and ensure all accidents are fully investigated and reported.
  • Liaise with all departments on any projects that may be taking place in factories and ensure legal compliance.
  • Carryout in conjunction with the appropriate management regular audits/inspections reporting unsafe practices etc. where necessary and implementing agreed corrective actions.
  • Support Managers in the Risk Assessments process

Communications, Reporting and Record Keeping
  • Maintain good relationships with outside agencies such as the HSE and Local Authorities.
  • Keep appropriate management informed of progress towards target attainment.
  • Maintain E, H & S records and issue reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate statistics and outcomes of investigations to all appropriate persons.
  • Assist in the compilation of COSHH data sheets and assessment to end users.

Training
  • Deliver company induction programme for new employees.
  • Undertake E, H & S training and presentations when required.
  • Develop through training, attitudes to help ensure that jobs are performed correctly and safely
  • Ensure professional competence is maintained and knowledge of best practice and legislative requirements is up to date.
SALARY 

To be discussed.
Working hours are Mon – Thurs 7.30am – 4.30pm, and, Friday 7.30am – 12.30pm
