JOB DESCRIPTION

UNITEAM MARINE is actively involved in all aspects of ship management. Offices are based in Cyprus, Germany, Myanmar, Lithuania, Ukraine and Singapore. The group is active in full management, operations, crew management, technical management, financial administration, consultancy and ISM/ISO 9001:2008 services. With more than 30 years of experience, the firm manages a fleet of vessels ranging from 2,000 to 170,000 dwt comprising of Multi-purpose, Container vessels and Bulk carriers under various flags.

Responsibilities

  • Objective, on-scene assessment of routine and emergency shipboard working procedures within the area of personal expertise (Deck and Catering Departments' routines and overall vessel's safety / emergency procedures)
  • Identifying causes of substandard crew's performance
  • Determining the best solutions to identified problems
  • Whenever possible, immediate resolving identified problems through:

            - Workplace instructions

            - Training sessions

            - Guiding shipboard teams and individual crewmembers

            - Resolving cross-cultural conflicts

  • Promoting best management practices
  • Motivating the crews for self-development and best possible performance
  • Identifying external factors impeding vessels' performance
  • Reporting:

            - Assessment findings

            - Actions taken onboard

            - Effectiveness of applied measures

            - Suggestions for solutions of identified external problems

            - Suggestions for improvements in Company's standard procedures

  • If necessary, requesting immediate actions from Company's departments
  • Constant self-development and active participation in development of Marine Department's working procedures

Required qualification:

  • Master's Certificate of Competence
  • At least 3 years of recent active sea service as Master or at least 3 years of recent experience in a similar position within shipping organisation
  • Long-standing traceable seagoing experience
  • Experience in working in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Strong analytical and excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel worldwide
  • Previous teaching experience or experience in a similar position will be considered an advantage

The On Board Trainer - Nautical will report to the Marine Department.

UNITEAM MARINE will offer an in house training for the appropriate candidate.
