JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Client is a multi-million pound terminal based in Wales supplying clean and reliable energy to the UK.

Due to their recent success, we are looking to bring on an experienced Marine Superintendent to run their terminal operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure full implementation of HSSE policies as it relates to marine operations. Communicate HSSE messages, lessons learned effectively and regularly in the appropriate forums and formats
  • Plan and coordinate safety/security drills with the First Responders relating to terminal, marine service providers and LNG Carriers on a regular basis
  • Ensure full compliance with Terminal/Port Regulations
  • Act as Duty Manager on rotational  basis for  Emergency/Crisis Response when needed
  • Establish, maintain, update and implement marine terminal and port facilities operating procedures. Ensure procedures are compatible and compliant with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure full HSSE compliance for all marine activities including those of Marine Service Providers. Ensure ISO 14001 compliance
  • Assist in the development of Emergency Procedures at the Terminal and Jetty including interfaces and responsibilities while the LNG Carrier is at Berth
  • Develop comprehensive procedures for managing marine incidents within the terminal environs. Ensure that regular risk assessments are carried out for all marine activities. Ensure that incident reporting procedures are developed and implemented: Carry out incident investigation and reporting as required
  • Develop , implement  and maintain operations procedure for Environmental waste management and co-ordinate jetty spill emergency waste management response
  • Supervise all marine maneuvering activities (Berthing, Un-berthing)
  • Establish, maintain, update and implement the terminal and port facilities security operating procedures. Ensure procedures are compatible and compliant with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
Person Profile:

  • Demonstrable experience in marine terminal operations in LNG, Oil and Gas
  • Demonstrable experience in a senior officer capacity with hazardous cargo handling onboard tankers, including line management roles
  • Demonstrable experience of LNG or Hydrocarbon carrier berthing, LNG handling and  setting up marine procedures
  • Degree in Marine Studies or equivalent
  • Oceangoing Masters License
  • STCW Unlimited Master Mariner Certificate of Competency
  • Ability to train jetty operators in basic marine practices
  • Understanding of the Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality standards that are applied within a top tier COMAH installation
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Clear managerial skills coupled with tact and diplomacy
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to; Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Results orientated, with a commitment to quality and timely delivery
  • Ability to motivate a team or work independently
  • Good understanding of the cultural and business issues from a business operating in Wales and with a mix of international shareholder
  • Be a member of the Honorable Company of Master Mariners or similar professional body
